Why images download as WebP
Many websites serve images as WebP because the files are small. When you save one, you get the .webp file, and some editors, slide tools and upload forms won’t accept it. PNG works everywhere.
Transparency
PNG supports transparency just like WebP, so transparent backgrounds stay transparent.
Animated WebP
If a WebP file is animated, Tabmorph converts its first frame.
About the formats
WebP is Google’s web image format. Browsers save images as WebP more and more often, but many editors, slide tools and older apps still can’t open it.
PNG is a lossless image format with transparency. It is ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics, but photos saved as PNG are much larger than JPG.
